Few question about my 305 roller build thanks?

its a 88 block so its got serpentine thing with all the pulleys and crap now my question is can i just do it old school with just the water pump pulley, alt, pulley and the engine pulley??? now my other question is what would be a good carb for a 305 with a small cam and alum intake??? and my last question is what the biggest cam i can put into this 305 roller without messing with the heads just a nice lopey idle cam that i can throw in there with lifter and new springs thanks!!
