Studies show that christianity and other religions have borrowed a great deal from religions of the past. Not only the old Greek religions ( Zeus isn't a cartoon character originally but one of hte old greek gods to another poster) but also some of the beliefs of ancient Eygpt. It has always been quite adept at absorbing/adapting to other beliefs to increase its own adherents. Christianity for example has made little opposition to and in some cases supported teh hindu caste system in India.
