When sending a resume by email, what do you usually write?

oh laura, i wish you had asked this before sending resumes. you should ALWAYS use a cover letter. so, your email would be the cover letter, which would end with a line that says something about your resume being attached. tsk, tsk. to really set yourself apart and impress an employer, always use a cover letter. i've never applied for a job and not gotten a call back. i've never been called back and not offered the job. the cover letter makes all the difference. oh, and after an interview, drop a thank you card in the mail thanking the person for their time. the note will arrive a day or two after your interview, so if they have seen a ton of other people in the meantime, this will set you apart and put you back in the minds.
